- What is an heterotroph? Give examples.
- Heterotrophs eat other organisms for food e.g. people, animals, bacteria, and fungi.
- What is a producer? Give examples.
- Producer is another name for autotroph. Ex are: cyanobacteria, plants, algae, phytoplankton, chemosynthetic bacteria, etc.
- What is symbiosis?
- Symbiosis occurs when one organism lives on or in another during a portion or all of their lives.
- What is a biome? Give an example.
- Biomes are huge ecosystems with similar plant life and precipitation e.g desert and tropical rainforest
- What is a decomposer? Give an example.
- Organisms that absorb (they have no mouth) dead decaying organisms for food e.g bacteria and fungi
- What is a predator? Give an example.
- Predators are organisms that kill and eat another animal e.g. peregrine falcons prey upon pigeons
- How do you know whether or not two organisms belong to the same species?
- Members of the same species can interbreed and produce fertile offspring. A horse and donkey are not members of the same species because they produce a mule that is sterile.
- How does primary succession differ from secondary succession?
- Primary succession begins on rock; secondary succesion begins on soil.
- What are two climate conditions that help determine a biome?
- Temperature and precipitation.
- What is the scientific name for man?
- Homo sapiens sapiens
