The greatest known writer of the Renaissance. Published 37 plays that are still performed today. Shakespeare is responsible for more than 1,700 words being printed for the first time.

Wrote Don Quixote, mocking midievil chivalry.
Johann Gutenberg
Printed the first edition of the bible with the first printing press.

How did Drurer help bring the Renaissance to northern Europe?
Drurer lived in Italy in 1494, when he returned to Germany his art and his writing helped spread the renaissance there.
What themes did Erasmus and Moore raise in thier writings?
Erasmus talked about being open minded and good to one another, and about religious reform. Moore talked about the perfect society where men and women live in peace and harmony.
What were three effects of the printing revolution?
1) Books were cheaper
2) People learned about different things and expanded thier horizons
3) Helped with the religious turmoil of the 1500's
Why did the cultural flowering of northern Europe not take place before the economic growth?
Because in order to have artists who can work on art and do things other than scrape together food and shelter for survival (which is what most of them end up doing anyway) you must have a society that is economically well off enough to support them.
What are some ways which Shakespeares works "live" today?
They are performed and read everywhere!!
