- Panels
- On-screen elements used in some programs to provide quick access to common commands and features.
- Toggle
- A feature or command that can be turned on or off. Also, the action of turning a feature or command on or off.
- Zoom
- The action of adjusting the magnification of a file by a percentage of its actual size. Also the feature used for this purpose.
- Active
- Current, or in use.
- Resolution
- The quality or sharpness of an image, usually measured in pixels per inch or pixels per centimeter.
- Bitmap
- A type of graphics in which the image is created using a series of dots.
- Default
- A standard setting or mode of operation.
- Stroke
- The line used to draw an object.
- Objects
- The elements, such as lines and shapes, that comprise a drawing.
- Pixels
- Single tiny dots used as units of measure and to define images on a computer screen. Short for picture elements.
- Graphics
- Images that you use to enhance the appearance of a variety of projects, including drawings, photographs, cartoons, charts, and maps.
- View
- The way a file is displayed on-screen.
- Fill
- The area inside a shape.
- Hexadecimal code
- A standard alphanumeric value used to identify colors based on their components or red, green, and blue.
- Vector
- A type of graphics in which the image is created using lines and curves defined by mathematical formulas.
- Pan
- The action of scrolling the drawing area to display a part that might otherwise be hidden outside the document window.
- Drawing area
- The area within the document window in which you draw nad edit images. Sometimes called the canvas or stage.
- Selection handles
- Small rectangles that are displayed around the edges of the current or selected object.
- Points
- Units of measure used in printing and publishing. There are 72 points to an inch.
- Layer
- A transparent level in the drawing area that can hold objects and allow objects to be manipulated separately from those on other layers.
