- Exposition
- Establishes the setting,introduces some of the main characters,explains background,and introduces the character's main conflit
- Plot
- A series of related events in a story, each connected to the next.
- Flash-forward
- An actions that jumps ahead of the story to narrate an event that happens at a later time.
- Resolution
- The act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.
- Sequence
- The order in which a story's events take place.
- Flashback
- An action that interrupts the story to introduce an event that took place in the past.
- Atmosphere
- Mood or feeling brought on by a story's seting.
- Rising Action
- Consists of a series of complications.These occurs as the main characters take action to resolve their problems.
- Dialogue
- the conversation between characters in a novel, drama, etc.
- Denouement
- The final resolution of the intricacies of a plot, as of a drama or novel.
- Turning Point
- A point at which something changes direction, esp. a high or low point on a graph.
- Setting
- The time and place in which the story happens.
- Resolution

- Falling action

- Conflict
- A struggle between two forces. An external conflict can take place between two characters;between a character and a group;or between a character and an animal or a force in nature.An internal conflict is a struggle that takes place within a character's mind or heart.
- Complications
- The act of complicating. A confused or intricate relationship of parts.
- Crisis
- A condition of instability or danger, as in social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to a decisive change.
- Foreshadowing
- Hints in the story that certain events are going to happen later.
- Climax
- The most exciting part of a story;the moment when the outcome of the conflict is determined.The climax usually comes near the end of a short story.
- Tragedy
- A dramatic composition, often in verse, dealing with a serious or somber theme, typically that of a great person destined through a flaw of character or conflict with some overpowering force, as fate or society, to downfall or destruction.
