- Superior
- Refers to the axial skeleton; close to top of head; the nose is superior to the mouth
- Inferior
- Close to feet; patella is inferior to the coxal
- Anterior
- Front of body; clavicle is anterior to scapula
- Posterior
- Back of body; occipital is posterior to the mandible
- Proximal
- Refers to appendicular skeleton
- Distal
- Farther away from trunk; phalanges are distal to the humerous
- Medial
- Closer to midline of body; ulna is medial to the metecarpals
- Lateral
- Further from midline
- Superficial
- Closer to the surface: the ad muscle are superfical to the stomach
- Deep
- Further from the surface; the kidneys are deep to the stomach
- Prone
- (M) term – laying on stomach
- Supine
- Laying in your back
- Cranial
- FYI; superior
- Caudal
- FYI; closer to feet or glutes
- Scapular to clavicle
