- Stomach
- An organ that squeezes and mashes food
- Cell
- The smalest working part of your body. They are the building blocks of your body.
- Energy
- The ability you body has to do things.
- Tissues
- Groups of the same kinds of cells working together. Skin, bones, and muscles are examples.
- Organs
- Groups of tissues working together. The heart, stomach, brain, and eyes are examples.
- Body Systems
- Groups of organs working together. Each one has several organs. Circulatory, muscular, respiratory, digestive, and nervous system are examples.
- Skeletal System
- Gives your body its shape and size
- Skeleton
- All the bones in your body
- Joints
- A place where two bones meet and allow you to bend.
- Hinge joints
- Swing like a door. Elbow and knee are examples.
- Ball and socket joint
- Lets one bone move in many directions. The hip is an example.
- Muscles
- Almost always work in pairs and can only pull.
- Nutrients
- Parts of food the body needs to grow and be active.
- Oxygen
- A gas that your cells need
- Organs of the digestive system
- Esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine
- Digestive juices
- Liquids that help to digest food

- A tube made of muscle that squeezes food down into the stomach
- Small intestine
- A hollow tube in which most of the digestion takes place. It's 13 feet long at your age!
- Large intestine
- A hollow tube in which wastes are stored until they leave the body. It's 4 feet long.
- Respiratory system
- This system helps you get oxygen to breathe and gets rid of oxygen.
- Trachea
- The windpipe
- Tiny air sacs in the lungs called alveoli
- These are like small balloons that fill up with the air you breathe.
- Circulatory system
- This system carries nutrients and oxygen to all your cells. It also carries away wastes from cells.

- Blood, heart, and blood vessels
- Blood
- A liquid that carries nutrients and oxygen to your cells.
- Heart
- Organ that pumps blood
- Arteries
- Vessels that carry blood from the heart
- Veins
- Vessels that carry blood back to the heart
- Capillaries
- Tiny blood vessels that connect arteries to veins
- Two kinds of blood cells
- Red that carry oxygen to the cells, and white that help your body fight certain kinds of illnesses
- Parts of the nervous system
- Brain, nerves, and spinal cord
- Brain
- Tells all other parts of the body what to do
- Nerves
- Bundles of cells. They connect all parts of your body with your brain.
