- Hypothesis
- A statement of what you expect to find according to predictions from a theory.
- Variables
- Factors that change or vary from one person or situation to another.
- Operational Definitions
- Precise ways to measure the variables.
- Research method
- The means by which data is collected.
- Reliability
- If other researchers use your operational definitions, their findings will be consistent with yours.
- Population
- The target group that you are going to study.
- Survey
- The appropriate method for the purpose which individuals will be asked a series of questions.
- Sample
- Individuals from among your target population.
- Random sample
- Everyone in the population has the same chance of being included in the study.
- Stratified random sample
- Divide a population into at least 2 different subgroups that share the same characteristics and draw samples from each subgroup.
- Control group
- A group that is kept separate from the tested group and nothing is done for them because they are not being used for the experiment.
