- Tyndall Effect
- Determines whether a substance is a mixture or a solution - use of particles and light pathways

- Two or more substances mixed together - combining so the mixture appears to be only one substance

- Two step process where a solution is heated until it evaporates, leaving behind dissolved materials - then cooling the vapor back into liquid form and collecting it - Purifies the Earth’s water supply

- Water is the biggest solvent in the ocean; there are many different solutes in the ocean - mostly sodium chloride (table salt); there are also solutes in the ocean that are gases-oxygen and carbon dioxide
