- What is a crisis?
- turning point in a persons life that produces overwhelming emotional response. they cannot effectively cope. The person is exposed to a stressor, has increased anxiety, tries to resolve, but cannot cope.
- what are the types of crisis?

maturational- developmental crises. predictable events in the course of life. getting married , having a baby, etc.
situational- unanticipated and sudden. example the death of a loved one, illness.
adventitious- "social" crises. for example a terrorist attack, hurricane, war, etc. - what are the 2 types of crisis interventions?

authoritative- the therapist directs. offers new knowledge.
facilitative- focus on empathy and listening to the client.
A balance between the two of these interventions usually works best. - What is a good tip for a good outcome when dealing with a crisis?
