- NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
- All the things in and around a place that were not made (or brought in) by people.
- RESOURCES
- Anything obtained from the environment to meet our needs and wants.
- HERBIVORE
- Any animal that feeds chiefly on grass and other plants.
- HABITAT
- The area where an organism lives, grows, and develops.
- RELATIONSHIPS
- A close connection, association, or interaction between two or more components of the ecosystem
- RENEWABLE
- Resource that can regenerate quickly and that is replaceable.
- OMNIVORE
- An organism that eats plants and animals.
- ECO-SYSTEM
- All the organisms living in the area, as well as the physical components of the environment of which they interact (air, soil, water, sunlight, etc.).
- BIOTIC
- The living organisms in an ecosystem
- ENDANGERED
- when there are so few of a species that it is in danger of dying out
- CARNIVORE
- An organisim that eats other animals
- DECOMPOSER
- Organisms in an ecosystem that break down organic material (dead organisms, their waste, etc.)
- CONSERVATION
- Protecting natural resources and using them wisely
- CONSUMER
- Organisms that take in food material and are above producers on the energy pyramid
- ENVIRONMENT
- The air, the water, the soil, and everything else that surrounds a person, animal, or plant.
- BIOMES
- Major ecological communities, such as rainforest, Forest, desert, grassland
- PRODUCER
- Living things that make their own food from the sun,water, carbon dioxide and other types of energy.
- FOOD WEB
- The interconnected food chains in an ecosystem
- ABIOTIC
- Non-living factors of an organisms' environment.
- NONRENEWABLE
- A resource that cannot be reused or replaced.
- CONNECTED
- Everything is joined or linked together in some way.
- THREATENED
- A word used to describe an organism or species that is in danger of becoming extinct.
- CONSERVATION
- The preservation and careful management of the environment and of natural resources
