Justices of Supreme Court
These judges are appointed, NOT elected. The Justices also serve the LONGEST term in office.
Who can introduce a bill to Congress?
Any member of the Senate or the House of Representatives.
How can a bill that has been vetoed become a law?
The vetoed bill can become a law if two-thirds majority vote in Congress to override the veto.
George Washington
First President of the United States.
Called "Father of Our Country".
Served in the Revolutionary War as the Commander in Chief.
Served as President of the Constitutional Convention after the war.
Northwest Ordinance
It was the set of laws that governed the Northwest Territory. It ALSO included the steps to becoming a state. The southern boundary was the Ohio River. The western boundary was Mississippi River.
Shay's Rebellion
This was an example of the Articles of confederation NOT working effectively. They were not happy with the government.
Articles of Confederation
Our country's first plan for a government. There was a Congress, but it did NOT have two houses (senate/representatives). It was a weak form of government. It was NOT the best plan of government for our country.
