- Declaration of the Right of Man
- stated that all people are equal before the law. Guarenteed freedom of speech, press, and religion. Also protected all against arbitary arrest and punishment.

- in this, Napolean acknowledged that the majority of France was Catholic but he affirmed religious toleration for all people. He also retained the right to name all bishops, who had to swear allegiance to the stat

- made up of delegates representing each estate. Called by Louis XVI for the first time in over 100 years in order to vote upon taxing the nobles
- conscription
- a draft. Set up by the committee of public safety in 1793
- nobility
- formed about 2% of the population. Owned about 25% of the land in France. Held high posts in the government and military

- the group of moderates in the national convention. They felt that the revolution had gone far enough and wanted to protect the wealthy middle class from radical attacks

- a 10% tax on icome. Used by the church to support schools, aid poor people, maintain church property, and pay for the clergy's lavish lifestyles.q

- a popular vote.

- payment for damages or losses.
- bourgeoisie
- the middle class. Part of the third estate. Led the third estate during the revolution

- meetings between the holy alliance and the quadruple alliance. Its objective was to avoid major european conflicts by resolving local problems peacefully

- set up to oversee the war effort in France. Adopted conscription and called upon the resources and skills of all citizens

- served as host of the Congress of Vienna. Believed that legitamacy, compensation, and balance of power would maintain the settelments made at Vienna
- unicameral legislature
- a one-house assembly whose members were chosen by voters. Set up by the National Assembly's Constitution of 1791.
