- Follows a command and indicates a submenu.

- Follows the Run command and indicates more information is required.

- To press and release the secondary button (Right).

- Top of the window, contains a small icon.

- Identifies a Window.

- Horizontal bar below the Title Bar containing; file, edit, view, favorites, tools, and help.
- Menu Bar
- This allows you to perform often used tasks more quickly.
- Standard Buttons Toolbar
- 3 Buttons have this; back, search, and folders.
- Text Labels
- Allows you to launch an application.
- Address Bar
- Shows that an area is expanded.
- Double Up Arrow
- Shows that an area is collapsed.
- Double Down Arrow
- Contains a title and 3 tasks.
- System Tasks Area
- Contains a title and 4 folders; My Network, My Documents, Shared Documents, and Control Panel.
- Other Places Area
- Underlined text like Tasks and folder names.
- Hyperlink
- Documents that are available (shared) with all computer users.
- Shared Documents Folder
- Represents hard disk drives like; 3 1/2 floppy, Disk Drives, and CD Drives.
- Drive Icons
- Makes a window no longer visible on the desktop.
- Minimize Button
- A short on screen note associated with what you are pointing to.
- Tooltip
- Makes a window fit the whole screen.
- Maximize Button
- Returns the window to the size it was before it was Maximized.
- Restore Down Button
- Closes a window.
- Close Button
- Central location for storing and managing documents.
- My Documents Window
- 3 tasks; Make new folder, Publish folder, and Share folder.
- File and Folders Task Area
- Links to 4 folders; Desktop, Shared Documents, My Computer, and My Network Places.
- Other Places Area
- This is collapsed and only the title and a double down arrow buttons appear.

- Point to an item, hold down the left mouse button, and move the item to a new location.

- Allows you to view areas not currently visible.

- Left of the icons, means there are other folders or subfolders.
- Plus Sign
- The drive or folder containing the files to be copied.
- Source Drive or Source Folder
- The drive or folder where the files are to be copied to.
- Destination Drive or Destination Folder
- A way to move files.
- Move Here
- Change the name of a file.

- Available with any running program and answers many questions about XP.
