- SUBJECT
- the noun that performs the action of the sentence- JANE ate the apple (JANE a mangé la pomme)
- INDEFINITE ARTICLE
- a determiner (as 'a' or 'some' in English) that indicates non-specificity of reference
- SUBJECT PRONOUN
- used as the subject or as part of the subject of a sentence [I, you, he, she, it, we, they]
- ADVERB
- a word that modifies something other than a noun
- AUXILIARY VERB
- Helps make verb phrase. Add auxillary verb to make sense. E.g. I walking. Becomes I AM walking.
- COMPARATIVE
- the comparative form of an adjective
- OBJECT
- the noun that has something done to it- jane ate the APPLE (Jane a mangé la POMME)
- PRONOUN
- word that replaces a noun- he, she, it
- NOUN
- a word that can be used to refer to a person or place or thing
- PAST PARTICIPLE
- a participle that expresses completed action- J'ai mangé
- VERB
- a content word that denotes an action or a state
- AGREEMENT
- when the adjective or past participle is the same as the object described- une voiture rouge BUT deux voiture rougeS
- SUPERLATIVE
- the superlative form of an adjective
- PREPOSITION
- word used to show the relationship of a noun or pronoun to some other word in the sentence. Examples: in, under, near, behind, to, from, over
- ADJECTIVE
- a word that expresses an attribute of something
- OBJECT PRONOUN
- is used as a direct or indirect object in a sentence. it can also be used after a preposition [me, you, him, her, it, us, them]
- IMPERATIVE
- used for giving instructions or making demands- Debout! Allons y!
- CONJUCTION
- a word that LINKS two sets of words together
- DEFINITE ARTICLE
- a determiner (as 'the' in English) that indicates specificity of reference
- REFLEXIVE
- used for actions done yourself- Je ME lave, nous NOUS couchons
- GENDER
- masculine or feminine
- TENSE
- a grammatical category of verbs used to express distinctions of time
