- What is a Biome?
- A biome is a community of plants and animals inhabiting a large geographical area having a particular climate and soil. The plants and animals making up that biome have special adaptations that allow them to thrive there.
- What are the elements of a biome?
- The elements of a biome include the water, the soil, the air, the flora, the fauna, and the transfer of energy.
- Describe the water cycle.
- Water evaporates from the heat of the sun. The water turns into water vapor and rises to form clouds. It, then, condenses and falls back to the earth as rain or snow.
- Why is soil important?
- Soil is necessary for life on this planet. Plants need the soil for the minerals it provides. The surface of the earth is covered in land which is made of soil and rocks and, also, water.
- Where does soil originate?
- Soil comes from the weathering of rocks (inorganic material) and the decomposition of living things (organic material). Soil also consists of water, air, and fauna.
- What is flora?
- The plants of a biome are called the flora.
- What is fauna?
- The animals of a biome are called the fauna.
