- antistrophe
- the repetition of words at the end of clauses, lines, or sentences
- asyndeton
- Eliminating conjunctions in a string of words, phrases or clauses to intensify the effect of multiplicity.
- anaphora
- The deliberate repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of several successive verses, clauses, or paragraphs; for example, "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills" (Winston S. Churchill).
- parallelism
- The use of identical or equivalent syntactic constructions in corresponding clauses or phrases.
- scheme
- artful variations from typical formation and arrangement of words or sentences
- chiasmus
- A figure of speech that reverses the order of words in phrases that would otherwise be structured the same. (e.g. Heaven is too great of humanity; humanity is too great for heaven)
- tautology
- (n) needless repetition of an idea by using different but equivalent words; a redundancy
- apposition
- a construction in which a noun or noun phrase is placed with another in explanatory equivalent (My mother Greta)
- anadiplosis
- the repetition of the last word or phrase from the previous line, clause, or sentence at the beginning of the next
- polysyndeton
- using several conjunctions in close succession, especially where some might be omitted (as in 'he ran and jumped and laughed for joy')
