Subordination - Definition
One clause depends on the other one; it does not make sense when it stands alone.
Subordination - Joined
Clauses joined by subordinating conjunctions follow 1 of 2 word order patterns
Subordination order 1
When the sentence begins with the main clause, that clause has regular word order, (verb 2nd in statement) and the dependent clause introduced by the conjuction has dependent word order (verb last).
Subordination order 2
When a sentence begins with a dependent clause, the entire dependent clause is considered the first part of the main clause and occupies first position. The verb-second rule applies, then, moving the subject of the main clause after the verb.
