- Who was Onesimus?
- Philemon's slave. he ran away left Philemon illegally, became a Christian. Paul sent him back to Philemon as it was duty/law with the letter to Philemon. Onesimus's name = useful. Paul Asks Philemon to accept Onesimus back as more than a slave.
- What does Syncretistic mean?
- Not pure, made up of many elements. A conglomeration
- What is the purpose of Paul's letter to the Colossians?
- Paul addresses a heresy that detracts fromt he doctrine of the Person of Christ and writes to correct it.
- What did this heresy at Colossae consist of?
- It had Hellenistic componenets, fullness, neglect of the body, and had Jewish components like rituals, Sabbaths, new moom, circumcision. They were blended into one.

- God chose us. He chose us in love, before we were born, before we did anything good or bad. We were predestined for adoption by Christ, we are chosen strictly in CHrist according to the purpose of his will.
