author called himself Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James it is generally held that this James is the brother of Jesus on grounds that no other James in the early church was eminent enough to be mentioned without qualification. if so, Jude is a brother of Jesus. some hold that this Jude did not write this letter, but why write in the name of someone with such little reputation as Jude.
1 Peter Audience
God's elect, stangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia. this would suggest a Gentile population with some Jews.
James contribution
focus on the relationship of beleivers with those outside the church, referred to as the rich. 2) affirmation that faith must be demonstrated in works for it to be valid.e
