- A group of individuals (of one species) living in the same area.
- Population
- A group of plants and animals living and interacting with one another in athe same area.
- Community
- A community of organisms, all dependent on each other, in combination with the non-living aspects of the envirnoment in which they live (i.e. all the species, and the biotic and abiotic factors of their envrionment).
- Ecosystem
- The specific locality or environment in which a plant or animal lives
- Habitat
- A plant or animal that makes its own food (e.g. plants) for energy.
- Producer
- A plant or animal that eats other living things for energy.
- Consumer
- An animal that hunts other animals (prey) to eat them for energy.
- Predator
- An animal/s that are eaten by a predator.
- Prey
- An animal that eats both vegetation and other animals.
- Omnivore
- Animal that eats meat
- Carnivore
- Animal that eats vegetation
- Herbivore
- The level occupied in a food chain(primary, secondary or tertiary, etc).
- Trophic level
- A sequence of organisms from within an ecosystem, in which each eats the next organism in the chain
- Food chain
- The interconnected food chains in an ecosystem
- Food web
- The total of all factors affecting an organisms (biotic and abiotic factors).
