- Posterior
- toward the rear; Opposite of anterior
- Arteries
- blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart
- veins
- blood vessels that transport blood toward the heart
- arterioles
- smaller vessels that deliver blood to the capillaries
- Capillaries
- smallest blood vessel that supply blood to the tissues, and the site of all gas and nutrient exchange in the cardiovascular system. They connect the arteriole and venous system
- Venules
- a very small vessel that collects blood from the capillaries and connects to the veins.
- Atrium
- upper chamber of the heart (left and right)
- Ventricle
- the lower chamber of the heart (left and right). the muscular left ventricle pumps blood to the lungs
- Bronchioles
- the smallest tubes that supply air to the alveoli (air sacks) in the lungs.
- Collagen
- the main constituent of connective tissue, such as ligaments, tendons, and muscles.
- Connective tissue
- the tissue that binds together and supports various structurees of the body.
- Wolff's Law
- bone is capable of adjusting its strength in proportion to the amount of stress placed on it. "Form follows function"
- Sedentary
- doing or requiring much sitting; not active
- amenorrhea
- two or less menstrual periods per year
- menopause
- cessation of menstration in the human female, usually occuring between age 45 to 50

- place of union or junction between two or more bones or between bones and cartilage
