- citizens
- people who sre born in a country or who have earned the right to become members of this country
- elect
- to choose by voting
- public goods
- services and that the government uses tax money to pay for (i.e. fixing roads and building schools)
- borough
- a community that usually has fewer people than a city
- township
- a community for citizens who live in areas outside of boroughs and cities
- municipal
- another name for local
- commission
- a group of elected leaders in a township
- council
- a group of elected leaders in a borough
- mayor
- a person that oversees a local government and carries out its laws
- manager
- a person appointed by the council to take care of the community's daily business
- home rule
- people can vote for the kind of local government they think is best for their community
- county
- one of the sections into which the state is divided (There are 67 counties in PA.)
- county comissioners
- a group of 3 elected people that run the county. They are usually elected every 4 years.
