All organisms are composed of 1 or more cells, the cell is the basic unit of organization in an organism all cell come from preexisting cells
Prokaryote
Bacteria; cell that lacks internal structures surrounded by membranes
Eukaryote
cell that has internal structure-bound structures called organelles
Organelle
membrane bound structure in a eukaryote cell that preforms specific jobs for the cell
Cytoplasm
a clear-jelly like fluie within the cell where important chemical reactions like the making of protein take place
Golgi apparatus
recieves useable proteins and lipids from e.r. and distributes them to other organelles
vesicles
membrane-bound packages that contain proteins
vacuoles
store everything but protein (animals have many small vacs, plants have 1 large vacs)
lysosomes
garbage disposal cells, they contain digestive enzymes that diges worn out parts ex. tadpoles tail.
