- What are the different elements of emotion?
- The body, mind, and culture.
- How does Facial Feedback relate to emotions?
- facial muscles send messages to the brain about the basic emotion being expressed.
- What are the parts of the brain that are responsibele for emotional experience?
- The Amygdala and the cortex
- What are the hormones involed in the arousal state? WHat e3ffects do they have on the body? What part does arousal play in the emotional response?
- Epinephrine, and norepinephrine. These chemical messengers produce a state of arousal and alterness. The pupiles dilate, widening to allow in more light; the heart beats faster; breathing speeds up; and blood sugar rises, providing the obdy with more energy. Digestion slows down, so blood moves from the stomach to the muscles. this is why we dont' eat when we're nervous.
- explain Schacter and Singer's two factor theory of emotion.
- Bodily changes are necessary to experience an emotion, but are not enough. Emotion depends on "physiological arousal and the cognitive interpretation of that arousal." Your body may be churing away in high gear, but unless you can interpret, explain, and label those change, you will not feel a true emotion.
- Distinguish between primary and secondary emotions.
- Primary emotions are those that appear to be inborn and universal, having corresponding physiological patterns and facial expressions. Secondary emotions include all the variations and blends of emotion that may vary across culture.

In some countries grief is expressed by loud crying, others nothing, others dance. - Body Language?
- body language is important and how you move your body, determines your emotion. When people feel uncomfortable with someone from another culutre, the reason may simply be that their body languages are out of sync.

Most people are expected to be sad at funerals, happiness at weddintgs, and affection toward relatives. - relationship between emotion and gender?

In everyday life men and women are equally likely to feel a wide array of emotions, from love to anger. Many men seem to be more physiologcally reative to conflict than women are, however, and the sexes sometimes differ in the perceptions and attributions that generate emotion and emotional intensity. Although women are thought to be better than men at reading another persons emotional state, gender is less important than other factors.
Men in North America suppress emotion or hide it. and women show it.
