- What are the relative postitions?
- 1. anterior 2. posterior 3. distal 4. proximal 5. medial 6. lateral 7. inferior 8. superior 9. superficial 10. deep
- What are the body planes?
- 1. coronal (frontal) 2. saggital 3. transverse
- What does the coronal boody plane consist of?
- It consists of the anterior and posterior halves of the body.
- What does the saggital plane consist of?
- It consists of the medial and lateral aspects of the body.
- What does the transverse plane consist of?
- It consists of the superior and inferior aspects of the body.
- What does anterior mean? Give an example.
- It means to be in front of something. Example: Your eyes are anterior to your brain.
- What does posterior mean? Give an example.
- It means to be behind something Example: Your spine is posterior to your brain.
- What does medial mean? Give an example.
- It means to be closer to your midline. (The center of your body.) Example: Your shoulder is medial to your elbow.
- What does lateral mean? Give an example.
- Lateral means to be farther away from your midline. Example: Your eyes are lateral to your nose.
- What does superficial mean? Give an example.
- It means to go from the outside in. Example: Your skin is superficial to your heart.
- What does deep mean?
- It means to be farther inside the body. Example: Your heart is deep to your skin.
- What does inferior mean? Give an example.
- It means to lie below something. Example: Your ankles are inferior to your knees.
- What does superior mean? Give an example.
- It means to lie above something. Example: Your shoulders are superior to your elbows.
- What does distal mean? Give an example.
- It means to be farther away from your torso. (Just for your limbs.) Example: Your wrist is distal to your elbow.
- What does proximal mean? Give an example.
- It means to be closer to your torso. (Just for limbs.) Example: Your elbow is proximal to your wrist.
- What are the organ systems?
- 1. Integumentary System 2. Skeletal System 3. Muscular System 4. Endocrine System 5. Nervous System 6. Cardiovascular System 7. Respiratory System 8. Digestive System 9. Reproductive System 10. Urinary System
- What are the levels of organization?
- Organelle-Cell-Tissue-Organs-Organ Systems-Organism
- What is homeostasis?
- Homeostasis is the condition of a stable internal environment.
- What is a set point?
- A set point tells youo what a particular value should be. Example: temperature
- What is anatomy?
- Anatomy is a branch of science that deals with the structure of body parts, their forms and how they are organized.
- What is the function of the integumentary system?
- The function of the integumentary system has multiple roles in homeostasis, including protection, temperature regulation, sensory reception, and absorption.
- What is the function of the Skeletal System?
- The function of the skeletal system is to protect the body's internal organs, and support the body.
- What is the funtion of the muscular system?
- The function of the muscular system responsible for all movement.
