- Zimmerman Note –
- Arthur Zimmerman promised Mexico Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico invaded the US from the south for Germany
- War Industries Board –
- board that controlled most of the business industries so they could help supply troops; handled purchasing for US and Allies
- Espionage and Sedition Acts –
- acts passed by Congress to prevent spying and resistance to the war efforts
- Suffrage -
- a vote given in deciding a controverted question or in the choice of a person for an office or trust
- Alliance -
- a bond or connection between families, states, parties, or individuals
- Victory Gardens –
- private civilian gardens planted to increase food production and support the war effort
- Treaty of Versailles –
- peace treaty signed between the allies and Germany at the Versailles peace conference held in 1919, which ended WWI by limiting GermanyÂ’s military and exhausting its treasury; the treaty that ended WWI
- Prohibition -
- an order to restrain or stop; the forbidding by law of the manufacture,transportation, and sale of alcoholic liquors except for medicinal and sacramental purpose
- Propaganda -
- ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause
- Deport –
- force to leave; banish; expel
- Neutrality -
- refusal to take part in a war between other powers
- Selective Service Act –
- act passed by Congress on May 18, 1917 requiring all men between the ages 21-30 to register for military service
