extreme close-up shot
used to elevate tension, mystery, or emotion by filling the frame with an image
animators need to be:
keen observers of the world, something of actors, fascinated with the way things move
bird's-eye shot
allows the audience to look down on the scene
canted shot
also known as "wonky" ... views an image off center or tilted so the subject creates an unsettling feeling with the audience
storyboard
a plan of what will be animated
whip pan
the camera pans very quickly from one view to another. draw serious of blurred lines in color palette.
focus pull
changing focus between two subjects in a frame. draws attention to something.
low-angle
camera placed lower than the subject and tilted upward to create a feeling of power or excitement
eye-level shot
camera is positioned as eye-level to identifying with the character as an equal
match cut
cut from one scene to another using a common, or "matched" element that connects the two scenes.

jump cut
a camera cut when two cuts intentionally don't match. it speeds up the action.

the most basic unit of a production, is a continuous view from one perspective

camera trades places with an on-screen character, allowing viewer to see action through character's eyes.

establishes the context for the shots that follow by setting up the location

two characters in a frame often used for conversation between two people
cutaway shot
a single shot inserted into the main series of action. it can be used to accentuate a detail.
single shot
the most basic shot

frames individual from waist or knees up
close-up shot
most basic version shows character from shoulders to top of head.. creates a connection between audience and character
