- metaphor
- an implied comparison between two different things

- a written record (sometimes daily)
- thesaurus
- a book containing lists of synonyms or related words
- biography
- the story of a person's life written by another person
- narrative
- a story or report of happenings
- dictionary
- a book that lists words in alphabetical order and gives their meanings, pronunciations, and etc.
- quotation
- words repeated, word for word, from another person or source
- synonym
- a word having the same or almost the same meaning as another
- punctuation
- the use of commas, periods, question marks, etc. in writing
- encyclopedia
- a book that contains articles about many different topics; the topics are arranged in alphabetical order
- opinion
- a belief that is not based on what is certain, but on what one thinks to be true or likely
- linguistics
- the study of language

- a conclusion or opinion arrived at by reasoning
- homonym
- a word that is pronounced like another word but that has a different meaning and is usually spelled differently
