- became president when Abraham Lincoln was assasinated. Was empeached. Was hated by Congress and Radical republicans. He was replaced by Ulysses S. Grant 1869-1877.

- Court case involving a slave who was sueing for his freedom. The ruling basically said that slaves couldn\'t do this because they were not citizens Also overturned Missouri Compromise leads to Major sectionalism.
