Eight Treasure Decoction (ba zhen tang)
Pallid complexion, palpitations w/ anxiety, reduced appetite, SOB, laconic speech, tired extremities, light-headedness/vertigo. Tongue is pale with white coat; pulse is thin and frail or large, xu and w/o strength
Peony and Licorice Decoction (shao yao gan cao tang)
Irritability, slight chills, spasms of the calf muscles, and lack of coating on the tongue. Possible cramps in the hands and pain in abdomen.
Ginseng, Poria, and Atractylodes (shen ling bai zhu san)
Loose stools or diarrhea, reduced appetite, possible vomiting, weakness of extremities, weight loss, distention and a stifling sensation in chest, pallid complexion. Tongue is pale with white coating and thin or deficient, moderate pulse.
Four Substance Decoction (si wu tang)
Dizziness, blurred vision, lusterless complexion and nails, generalized muscle tension, irregular menstruation with little flow or amenorrhea, lower ab pain. Tongue is pale with a wiry or choppy and thin pulse.
Ginseng Decoction to Nourish the Nutritive Qi (Ren Shen Yang Ying Tang)
For consumptive d/o with palpitations, forgetfulness, feverishness, reduced appetite, SOB, dyspnea on exertion, weight loss, dry skin and dry mouth and throat. Also for chronic non-healing skin sores.
Six Gentlemen Decoction (fiu jun zi tang)
For concurrent Spleen qi xu and phlegm characterized by a loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting; focal distention and a stifling sensation in the chest and epigastrium, often coughing of copious, thin and white sputum
Six Gentlement Decoction with Aucklandia and Amomum (xiang sha liu jun zi tang)
Reduced appetite with a feeling of surfeit after eating very little, belching, abdominal distention or pain, and s/t vomiting and diarrhea.
Tang Kuei Decoction to Tonify the Blood (dang gui bu xue tang)
Hot sensation in the muscles, a red face, irritability, thirst with a preference for warm beverages. Also for fever and headache due to loss of blood. Tongue is pale. Pulse is flooding, large, and def, which is forceless when pressed hard.
Tang Kuei and Peony Powder (dang gui shao yao san)
Continuous, cramping pain in the abdomen that is not severe, urinary difficulty and slight edema (particulary of lower limbs). Occurs during pregnancy
Tonify the Lungs (bu fei tang)
SOB, spontaneous sweating, occasional chills and feverishness, coughing, wheezing. Tongue is pail, pulse is frail or deficient
Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi (bu zhong yi qi tang)
Intermittent fever that worsens upon exertion, spontaneous sweating, aversion to cold, likes warm drinks, SOB, laconic speech, tendency to curl up, weak limbs, shiny, pale complexion, loose and watery stools. Tongue is pale with think, white coating. Pulse is flooding or rootless, and deficient.
Ginseng and Gecko Powder (ren shen ge jie san)
Chronic coughing and wheezing, thick, yellow sputum, coughing of pus and blood, a sensation of heat and irritability in the chest, facial edema, gradual emaciation. Tongue is purple with either a thin and white or a greasy, thin and yellow coat. Pulse is floating and deficient, esp at distal position
Generate the Pulse Powder (sheng mai san)
Chronic cough with sparse sputum that is difficult to expectorate, SOB, spontaneous sweating, dry mouth and tongue. Tongue is pale and red with dry, thin coating and rapid or thin and deficient pulse.
Honey-Fried Licorice Decoction (zhi gan cao tang)
Palpitations w/ anxiety, irritability, insomnia, emaciation, SOB, constipation, dry mouth and throat. Tongue is pale and shiny; pulse is irregular or thin, faint, and forceless
Four Gentleman Decoction (si jun zi tang)
Pallid complexion, low and soft voice, reduced appetite, loose stools, and weakness in limbs. Tongue body is pale and pulse is thin and/or frail.
All-Inclusive Great Tonifying Decoction (Shi Quan Da Bu Tang)
Coughing, reduced appetite, spermatorrhea, and weakness of the lower extremities. Used for qi and blood xu tending toward cold, for convalescence from long illness or from harsh medical treatment.
Restore the Spleen Decoction (gui pi tang)
Forgetfulness, palpitations (w/ or w/o anxiety), insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep, anxiety and phobia, feverishness, w/drawal, reduced appetit, chronic bleeding possible; pallid complexion. Tongue is pale w/a thin, white coat. Pulse is thin and frail
Four Substance Decoction with Safflower and Peach Pit (tao hong si wu tang)
For concurrent blood xu and stasis leading to shortened menstrual cycle with copious bleeding of dark-purple, sticky blood with or without clots, s/t accompanied by ab pain and distention.
