a member or employee of a government who represents his or her country in dealings with other nations, especially by working in an embassy or consulate abroad (sig.) william pitt was a good diplomat
William Pitt
A foreign secretary which is the same thig a secratary of state, for England and was one of the nation's greatest statesman. Pittsburg is named after him.
libel
(def.) libel is a crime and you can go to jail. You have to publish something that is a lie and that lie must hurt a person. (sig.) Zenger was accused and then found guilty of libel.
Great Awakening
(def.) a religious movement that happened in about 1739 when George Whitfield arrived in America. Most people were christian by the end of the century. (sig.) this made most people the same religion which made for less conflict.
General Wolfe
was the general of the british at the battle of quebec. was victorious but died during the battle
apprentice
(def.) a young person who works for free and learns a trade at the same time. (sig.) about 1/2 the people who came to America in colonial days were either indentured servants or apprentaces; apprentices were better off.
feudal lord
(def.) a lord who ruled in the feudalism time period; usually rich (sig.) William Johnson lived like one but never took advantage of it
Daniel Boone
Made first exploring trip to Kentucky in 1769. In 1775 he led a group of settlers to that Indian hunting ground.
Magna Carta
(def.)a freedom document stating that the Englishmen had some basic rights and that kings couldn't do whatever they wanted. It was signed in 1215. (sig.)it prevented kings like john from doing whatever they pleased, like cruel things

Was a 13 year old boy who sailed to america. he apprenticed to a printer for eight years. he printed all kinds of bad things about governer cosby in his articles and was accused of libel.

Glorious Revolution
(def:) a Bill of rights signed by King William and Queen Mary in 1688 that made the Parliament more powerful than the king (sig.) it made sure that there was never another king like john that would take everyone's money and land
