(def.) a written statement outlining the basic laws or principles by which a country is governed (sig.) Without a constitution, the US would be chaotic.

a 13 year old boy who sailed to america. He apprenticed to a printer for eight years. he printed all kinds of bad things about governer cosby in his articles and was accused of libel.

He was a professional soldier, was the commander of england's forces in the northern colonies, didn't like indians or william johnson

(def.) a list of basic human rights garunteed by the laws of a country (sig.) These rights made the Englishmen happy.
Diplomat
a member or employee of a government who represents his or her country in dealings with other nations, especially by working in an embassy or consulate abroad (sig.) william pitt was a good diplomat

(def.) a fortified settlement, especially of the type established by Spanish colonizers in the southwestern part of what is now the United States (sig.)they were the only place where missions were built
Libel
(def.) libel is a crime and you can go to jail. You have to publish something that is a lie and that lie must hurt a person. (sig.) Zenger was accused and then found guilty of libel
Baronet
(def.) a hereditary title, a baronet is considered a nobleman. (sig.) during the colonial times, the english named only two americas baronets.
Magna Carta
(def.) a freedom document stating that the Englishmen had some basic rights and that kings couldn't do whatever they wanted. It was signed in 1215. (sig.) It prevented kings from doing whatever they wanted. (i.e. cruel things)
William Pitt
A foreign secretary which is the same thig a secratary of state, for England and was one of the nation's greatest statesman. Pittsburg is named after him.

(def.) the unsettled land by the English where the Indians lived (sig.) it was rough and roudy and sometimes killed for it
Fort Duquesne
def.) a fort built by the French in pittsburgh and still stands today (sig.) it was involved in a key battle in the war with George Washington

a young person who works for free and learns a trade at the same time. (sig.) about 1/2 the people who came to America in colonial days were either indentured servants or apprentices; apprentices were better off.

Great Awakening
(def.) a religious movement that happened in about 1739 when George Whitfield arrived in America. Most people were christian by the end of the century. (sig.) this made most people the same religion which made for less conflict.
Glorious Revolution
(def.) a Bill of rights signed by King William and Queen Mary in 1688 that made the Parliament more powerful than the king sig: it made sure that there was never another king like john that would take everyone's money and land
feudal lord
(def.) a lord who ruled in the feudalism time period; usually rich (sig.) William Johnson lived like one but never took advantage of it
William Johnson
His indian name was Warraghiyagey, was loyal to the king, owned over 30 trading posts and was rich. He married Degonwadonti and had 7 children with her
Albany Congress
(def.) was made up of representatives from 7 colonies and 150 Iroquois......it tried to unite the colonies but failed (sig.) it showed that the colonists wanted to separate from their respective countries
Proclamation of 1763
(def.) it was a treaty set by the king of England stating that nobody could settle west of the appalachian mts. (sig.) it partially helped keep the indians land bu not by much.

(def.) a type of gun (sig.) it was the main weapon of that time period
