- Sambuca
- Licorice flavored liqueur, 80ï‚° to 100ï‚°, clear in color, comes from Italy. Traditionally, Sambuca is served neat with three coffee beans. Then it is flamed to roast the beans. The coffee beans help to cleanse the palate of the licorice flavor. Opal Nera is a recently released Black Sambuca.
- American Blended Whiskey
- Very similar to Canadian whiskey, the American Blends are also very smooth and light. American Blended Whiskey is also a combination of corn, rye and barely; but favors corn.
- Cointreau
- 80 proof, clear in color, orange flavored liqueur. Comes from France and has a neutral spirits base.
- Curacao
- Ranges from 0 to 60 proof, can be blue, red, green, orange or white (clear) orange flavored liqueur. Has a neutral spirits base.
- Grand Marnier
- Triple Sec
- Another name for White Curacao. A generic copy of Cointreau. An orange flavored liqueur.
- Galliano
- Licorice flavored liqueur, comes from Italy, 80ï‚°. Has a neutral spirits base, with a slight hint of vanilla, bright yellow in color.
- Ouzo
- Licorice flavored liqueur, ranges from 80ï‚° to 130ï‚°. Clear in color, but turns milky white and cloudy when water is added. It is the national liqueur of Greece.
- V.S. Cognac
- Very Special or Very Superior. Aged for at least two years. Most V.S. Cognacs are between four and eight years old.
- V.S.O.P. Cognac
- Very Special Old Pale. Aged for at least four years, although most average between eight and twelve years of age.
- X.O. Cognac
- Extra Old. Sometimes labeled Napoleon Brandy. A minimum of six years old. This is the oldest style on the market. Most are aged for twelve or more years and are very expensive.
- Calvados
- An apple Brandy from Normandy France.
- Applejack
- An American apple Brandy.
- Marc
- A French “pomace Brandyâ€. Pomace is the leftover grape pulp and skins from wine production. In Italy, pomace Brandy is called Grappa.
- Kirschwasser
- A German cherry Brandy.
- Pear William or Poire Williames
- A Brandy made from pears. It is produced in France, Holland, and the United States.
- Silvovitz
- A Yugoslavian plum Brandy.
- Mescal
- Liquor distilled in Mexico from the Agave cactus. There are over 400 varieties of this cactus grown in Mexico, and any of them can be used to make Mescal. The worm in the bottle is there simply as a traditional novelty. Mescal is 80ï‚°, and is usually aged for two years.
- Tequila
- A type of Mescal made only in the Tequila (Jalisco) region of Mexico. By law, Tequila must contain a minimum of 51% of the juice of the Blue Agave cactus. The Blue Agave makes the smoothest of the “cactus whiskeys.†Tequila does not, and legally cannot contain an Agave worm.
- Silver Tequila
- This Tequila is not aged. It is clear, or white. Most “Well†Tequila is silver Tequila. It can be quite harsh.
- Gold Tequila
- Tequila aged for at least two years in oak barrels. The wood gives the liquor a golden color, and a much smoother flavor. Most Tequila sold in the US is of this type.
- Crèma de Alemndrado Tequila
- This is Tequila that has been aged for at least two years in barrels full of raw almonds. This imparts a stong almond flavor to the liquor. Crema de Alemndrado Tequila is not available in the US.
