- Common Law
- The system of law originating in England, as distinct from the civil or Roman law and the canon or acclesiastical law.
- List 2 ways to amend (or change) the constitution.
- 2/3 vote in both house of Congress and Ratified by 3/4 vote in the State Legislature.
- What is the 10th Amendment?
- (1791) It says that if a power is not given to the federal government or prohibited to the states, it belongs to the people of the state.
- Magna Carta
- The "great charter" of English liberties, forced from King John by the English barons and sealed at Runniymede, June 15, 1215.
- List examples of Expressed Powers.
- Tax, Borrowing money, and Regulate Interstate Trade
- What is the U.S.A today?
- A Federal Republic with Democratic elements.
- Implied Powers
- Not stated but suggested by the expressed powers. Implied powers are based on Article 1, Section 8, Clause 18 of the constitution which says that government may do what is 'necessary nad proper' to carry out functions of government. It's also known as the Necessary and Proper Clause or Elastic Clause.

- The countinuous exersize of authority over and the performance of functions for a political unit.

- Stated in the constitution.

- The branch of political science that deals with civic affairs and the rights and duties of citizens.

- What was the original purpose of government?
- The original purpose of government was to protect private properties.
- The five concepts of democracy are?
- Fundamental worth of the individual, Equality, Majority rule/Minority rights, Compromise, Freedom
- Define Freedom.
- The right to do as you please as long as you don't infringe on the rights of others.
- List examples of Implied Powers.
- Build dams, NASA, and Interstates.
- Ideology
- The body of ideas reflecting the social needs and aspirations of an individual, group, class, or culture.
- What is Federalism?
- Federalism is the division of powers between the states and federal government.
