- scatter plot
- the plot, or graph, of the points that correspond to the ordered pairs in a collection
- x-coordinate
- the first number of an ordered pair, the horizontal coordinate
- origin
- the point in the coordinate plane at which the horizontal axis intersects the vertical axis. It's point=(0,0)
- equivalent equations
- equations with the same solution set
- linear equations
- each equation's variable occurs only to the first power and does not occur in a denominator
- coordinate plane
- a plane formed by two real number lines intersecting at a right angle
- inverse operations
- two operations that "undo" each other (addition & subtraction, multiplication & division)
- y-axis
- the vertical axis in the coordinate plane
- literal equation
- an equation which uses more than one letter as a variable
- similar triangles
- two triangles are similar if their corresponding angles are congruent
- ordered pair
- a pair of real numbers used to locate each point in a coordinate plane
- quadrants
- in the coordinate plane, the four parts in which the axes divide the plane (quadrant 1, quadrant 2, quadrant 3, quadrant 4)
