- an equal sign (=) placed between two expressions creating a left and right side of the quation.
- domain
- collection of all input values
- mathematical model
- an expression, equation, or inequality of a real-life situation
- power
- Ex. : 4 to the 3rd. power. meaning 4 x 4 x 4.
- function
- a rule that establishes a relationship between two quantities, the input and the output. for each input there is one output.
- base number
- the repeated number in a power
- grouping symbols
- parentheses ( ), brackets [ ], and braces { }
- data
- a plural word for infromation
- exponent
- the number that represent how many times the base number is repeated
- variable expression
- a collection of numbers, variables, and operations
- open sentence
- an equation conatining one or more variables
- variable
- a letter that is used to represent one or more numbers
- order of operations
- parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction
