- Describes nouns and pronouns
- Action Verb
- an action or something you can "do"
- Pronoun
- Replaces a noun. They must agree with the antecedent in gender number and person (1st, 2nd, and 3rd person)
- The questions an Adjective answers
- What kind? which one? How many?
- Noun
- Person, place, thing (concrete/common) or idea/feeling (abstract). proper nouns=capitalized
- Helping Verbs
- They help the main verb show verb tense. *remember Maybe (Mr.) do should have (a) will.
- Linking Verb
- a verb that links the subject with more info about the subject
- State-of-being-verbs
- They can also be linking verbs and helping verbs. is, am, was, were, are, be, being, been.
- Double Agent Verbs
- smells, appears, turns, tastes, remains, becomes. you know that it is a linking verb if you can substitute it for a or =
- Articles (small adjectives)
- a, an= indefinite. the=definite

- Describes verbs, other adverbs, and adjectives.
