Weathering
To expose to the open air : subject to the action of the elements.
Bedrock
The solid rock underlying unconsolidated surface materials.
Rotation
The action or process of rotating on or as if on an axis or center (2) : the act or an instance of rotating something b : one complete turn : the angular displacement required to return a rotating body or figure to its original orientation.
Revolution
The action by a celestial body of going round in an orbit or elliptical course; also : apparent movement of such a body round the earth.
Precession
A comparatively slow gyration of the rotation axis of a spinning body about another line intersecting it so as to describe a cone .
Magnetism
A class of physical phenomena that include the attraction for iron observed in lodestone and a magnet , are inseparably associated with moving electricity, are exhibited by both magnets and electric currents, and are characterized by fields of force.
Gauss
The centimeter-gram-second unit of magnetic flux density that is equal to 1 x 10-4 tesla.
Magnetic Sphere
A region of space surrounding a celestial object (as a planet or star) that is dominated by the object's magnetic field so that charged particles are trapped in it.
Auroras
A luminous phenomenon that consists of streamers or arches of light appearing in the upper atmosphere of a planet's magnetic polar regions and is caused by the emission of light from atoms excited by electrons accelerated along the planet's magnetic field lines.
Igneous
Relating to, resulting from, or suggestive of the intrusion or extrusion of magma or volcanic activity.
Extrusive
Relating to or formed by geological extrusion from the earth in a molten state or as volcanic ash.
Intrusive
Of a rock : having been forced while in a plastic state into cavities or between layers.
