Application
is a program that makes the mac do a specific kind of work; it oftenis a program
Buttons
.Those items which appear that have words written in them and which when ignored will not allow you to go any further; there must be an answer to a button;the default is the highlighted button
Clipboard
is a specific storage area in the mac's memory
command
things you can tell the computer to do, such as save, and print
desktop
where you keep your work and the tools you work with; it refersto the area of the computeron which the windows are opened and app;ocations are selected
Dialogue Box
screen used to enter information and select optiona required by a command
Document
is a piece of work you created with an application program: this informationexists only in the memory of the computer.
File
contains information stored on a disk; when you save a document on a disk, it is saved as a file
Icon
a graphic represntaion of an item or a picture of your work and the tools you work with
Insertion Point
A flashing vertical line that appears after the I beam is set and the mouse is clicked; it is where the characterss of the keyboard will be placed
Pop-up menus
The list which appears under the main menue when the item in the main menue is clicked
Window
a basic interface of the macintosh. Part of the compeuter screen displaying a file that may be used by MS word, MS excel, or any application
dock
is a device that lies either on the bottom or the side of the desktop from which applications may be launched
Path
Shows where files or applications are stored
Menue Bar
appears at the top of the screen, on the desktop and with in applications
I beam
shape the mouse pointer becomes when moved into a document; it is controlled by the movement of the mouse
folders
storage areas you have named that contain the filesyou have created
