- Scientific Method
- An approach to seeking the truth or verifying that a set of facts agrees with reality
- Problem Solving
- evaluating the solution over atime to be sure that it is still effective
- Decision making
- when a person faces a problem or situation and mustchoose a course of action from several options
- diagnostic reasoning
- the process of determining a client's health status after the nurse assigns meaning to the behaviors, physical signs, and symptoms presented by the client
- Diagnostic inference
- the process of drawing conclusions from related pieces of evidence (ex: forming a nursing diagnosis)
- clinical decision making
- collaboration with a client to make a decision that identifies the problem and then chooses those nursing interventions that will meet the mutually established goals of care
