- Plant adaptations for desert environments:
- -Smaller leaves to reduce transpiration -Waxy leaves to retain moisture -thick leaves to retain water -modified leaves (spines_ to reduce transpiration -light green to reflect light -swollen bottems (palm) to stroe water
- Plant adaptations for rainforest environments:
- -large, broad leaves or lots of tiny leaves to increase transpiration -dark green to absorb more light -very thin -leaves have light backs to reflect light -crinkley leaves to allow water shed
- Convergent evolution
- When two seperate species evolve to have similar characteristics overtime (Coffe and tea).
- Divergent evolution
- When a large population evolves to havee different characteristics over time and creates a new species (humans and chimps).
- pome
- most of the fleshy part is composed of the sepals and receptacle fused to ovary wall (apple).
