- About Guru Nanak?
- Was devoted to Vishnu. Lived in a Muslim area. Householder until 30 when he had religious vision. Disappeared into water, which was actually heaven and founded a religion that was neither Islam nor Hinduism. Declared pluralism/validity of all religions. Became a teacher for the next 25 years.
- About the third, fourth, fifth, and tenth gurus?
- 3-established Adi Granth, holy book. 4-founded holy city of Amritsar 5-builds Golden Temple 10-Gobind Singh-establishes khalsa, establishes 5 K's, says there's no more need for gurus and to just follow Adi Granth
- About the Punjab War of Independence?
- British/Indian control of Punjab split by partition in 1947. 1984-guerilla war when prime minister was assassinated in Operation Blue Star.

- About reading "Guru Nanak's Death?"
- Nanak told the Muslims and Hindus to place flowers on each side of his body and whichever was freshest the following morning got to choose how to dispose of his body. Hindu-burn, Muslim-bury. He died under an acacia which bloomed immediately after he died. Died while he was singing "The Twelve Months." Dies under a sheet. When sheet is removed, body is gone and flowers are equally as fresh.
- About reading "Formation of the Khalsa?"
- Muslims wanted to eliminate Sikhs, so 10th Guru Gobind Singh develops a military called the khalsa. Gathered the faithful and asked if anyone would be willing to die in the name of Sikhism. 5 men stepped forward and it seemed like the Guru stabbed them because the bloody sword was visible to the crowd. However, he instead killed 5 goats. The next day, the 5 men dressed in white robes and water from the Satluj River was put into an iron vessel and stirred with the sword. It became "amrit" or holy water. He applied water to the men and himself and shared the code of conduct for khalsa.
