- Trophic Levels
- feeding level of one or more organisims in a food web.
- Detritivores
- organisim that consumes dead material and animal wastes; includes decomposers
- Decomposers
- various bacteria and fugi that break down dead animal wastes and extract the remaining nutrients.
- Biological Magnification
- the process where by substances collect in the bodies of organisimsin progressivly higher concetrations toward the top of a food chain.
- Biomass/ Biomass Pyramid
- weight of living things (dry weight) of an organisi, pop or community.
- Pyramid of Numbers
- the concept that numbers of organisims decrease as one progresses towards the top of the food chain.
- Pyramid of Energy Flow
- the concept that the energy available to organisims at each trophic level decreases as one progresses towards the top of the food chain.

- a pesticide that was devoloped in WWII to keep exotic bugs away from soldiers.
