- where and why natural forces occur as they do ( climates, land forms, types of vegetation.)

- a specific point on Earth distinguished by particular characteristics.
- Region
- A area of Earth distinguished by a distinctive combination of cultural and physical features.
- Scale
- relationship between the portion of the Earth being studied and the Earth as a whole.

- physical gap or interval between two objects.

- Toponym
- the name given to a place on Earth. May be named after a person, event, landmark, or to increase tourism
- Site
- physical characteristics of a place. Factors are climate, water sources, topography, soil, vegetation, latitude, and elevation.

- the location of a place in relation to other places.
- Meridian (longitude)
- An imaginary arch drawn from North to South pole.
- Parallel (latitude)
- a circle drawn around the globe that is parallel to the equator.
- Greenwich Mean time (GMT) or Universal Time (UT)
- the master reference time for all points on Earth.
- Cultural Landscape
- a combination of cultural features such as language and religion, economic feature such as agriculture and industry, and physical features such as climate and vegetation.
- Formal (Uniform/Homogeneous) Region
- an area within which everyone shares in common one or more distinctive characteristics.
