Hypertrophy; witches brooming; deminished seed production and reduction in growth rates; death of host
Why is true leafy mistletoe economically important?
Requires a lot of pruning and the berries stick to cars causing paint damage.
How do the seeds of Dwarf mistletoe get transported to new hosts?
The seeds get shot off (by turger pressure)and stick on new trees.
How do the seeds of TRUE mistletoe get transferd to new hosts?
They are very stickey and fall onto lower canopy trees and plants as well as get stuck onto birds and transfered.
How do we prevent the spread of dodder in fields?
If a field contains dodder all of the equipment is quarentined and/or undergoes strict cleaning and inspection before being used in uninfected fields.
