Branding
In advertising, to create a preference for a product by advertising that it is superior in some particular way to similar products.

Clash of cultures
This new term may be defined as what happens when two societies that are sharply different in many ways intersect at various levels of class and belief with unpleasant results.

Information war
A new term for the Information Age. It may be defined simply as a war in which the tools and content of information are used instead of—or in addition to—guns and bullets.

ISP
Internet Service Provider, an organization, usually a private company, that hooks individual
computers into the world network. ISPs sell access, but are not themselves information
providers.



Luddite
Someone who opposes new technology and the new methods it brings.
Muckraker
The term given by Theodore Roosevelt to describe those who today are called investigative journalists. The muckrakers saw a duty in exposing corruption and dreadful conditions.

Radio commentator
A broadcaster of opinion and news. The emphasis has been on opinions.Since the 1930s, radio commentators have become household names and have developed influence in government circles.

“Yellow journalism”
The term given to exaggerated, sensational news coverage, hammering editorials, and over-the-top newspaper layout pandering to low-class tastes. It was particularly done in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by a few urban newspapers owned by William
Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer.
