- cable modem
- High speed internet service that is run through your local cable companys lines to your computer.
- Dial-up internet connection
- A network connection which requires that a telephone number be dialed-.
- DSL
- A high-speed internet line that runs through regular phone lines. Also reffered to as an "always on" connection because you do not have to disconnect from it in order to use a phone.
- A system for sending and reciveing messages electroniclyover a computer network,as between personal computers.
- hacker
- Hacker Someone who uses computers illegally to get information or harm other computers.

- The opening or pimary Web page on an internet site.

- The programming language used to create web pages
- hyperlink
- A highlighted or underlined word or graphic on a web page that leads to another web page. It links the web pages togeather.
- Internet account
- What allows the userto get online. Typically includes a login,password, and email address. Set up through your ISP.
- Modem

- A group of computers either a LAN, or Local Area Network, or a WAN, or Wide Area Network.
- Search ingine
- A web site that searches the internet for specific info. BY creating indexes, or large databases of web sites, search ingines can locate relevant Web sites when users enter search terms or phrase.
- Server
- A computer that stores info that can be accessed via internet. When users connect to a server, they can access programs ,files,and other info from a server . Common servers are web servers mailservers,AND LAN servers.
- URL
- "Uniform Resource Locator." A URL is the address of a specific WEb site or file on the internet.
