- Osseous tissue (bone)
- Bone cells in lacunae (cavities). Hard matrix- calcium salts. Large # collagen fibers. Protect and support the body.
- Hyaline Cartillage
- Most common. Composed of collagen fibers and rubbery matrix. Entire fetal skeleton, joints, larynx.
- Elastic Cartilage
- Elastin fibers (matrix) provides elasticity, external ear.
- Fibrocartilage
- Collage, highly compressible, discs between vertibrae
- Dense connective tissue
- collagen fibers, cells that secrete are fibroblasts. (tendon attatches muscle, ligaments attatch bones)
- Areolar (loose)
- most widely distriuted. soft pliable tissue, contains all fibers, soak up excess fluid
- Adipose tissue
- matrix-fat globules predominate. large lipid deposits. functions (insulate, protect, fuel storage)
- Reticular connective tissue
- Reticular fibers, forms troma of lymphoid organs (lymph nodes, spleen, bone marros)
- Blood
- fluid matrix, fibes are visible during clotting. functions as the transport.
