diverging lens
the lens at the right is thinner in the middle and the rays of light are made to diverge
converging lens
the lens is thicker in the middle and the rays of light are made to converge.
real image
the image formed by a single converging lens is upside down
virtual image
the image formed by a single converging lens is right side up and look as if they came from the image position.
angular magnification
depends on how the glass and the object are held relative to the eye.
focal point
the point at which a beam of light converges.
focus
the point at which a beam of light converges.
principle axis
the line joining the centers of curvature of its surfaces.
astigmatism
eye defect where the cornea is more curved in one direction than the other. fixed with cylindrical corrective lenses that have more curvature in one direction than in another.
aberration
distortions in an image.
chronic aberration
the result of different speeds of light
