A branch of psychology that studies, assesses, and treats people with psychological disorders (p.14)
clinical psychology

scientific study that aims to solve practical problems. (p.13)
applied research
an early school of psychology that used introspection to explore the elemental structure of the human mind. (p.4)
structuralism
a school of psychology that focused on how mental and behavioral proccesses function--how they enable the organism to adapt, survive, and flourish. (p.4)
functionalism
pure science that aims to increase the scientific knowledge base. (p.13)
basic research
the science of behavior and mental processes. (p. 8)
psychology
the view that knowledge comes from experience via the senses, and science flourishes through observaton and experiment. (p.4)
